
The most beneficial of Australian Fortnite talent congregated at the Australian Open, normally a setting for Tennis only, to place on one of Australia's most significant ever esports events. The Summer Smash was split into two tournaments, a single major solo event for Australian pro's and amateurs, in addition to a Pro-Am featuring Fortnite personalities and celebrities.

This mean there was life changing money on the line, with the first spot in the solo event walking away using a cool $100,000, and there was $50,000 every single for the runner up and third spot finisher.
Renegades pro Jesse 'X2Twins Jesse' Eckley took down first place thanks to a consistent functionality throughout the heats, claiming a number of Victory Royales plus the $100,000 money prize.

The Pro-Am event was a three-match duo competitor featuring well-known players and in some cases some celebrity faces. Some technical difficulties marred the first match, with players unable to load in, but since the Pro-Am was purely for charity, players have been courteous regarding the issues.
An additional Renegades player. Harley 'Mrfreshasian' Campbell, got first place within the Pro-Am as well, along with the $50,000 very first place prize was split between two charities in the winners' choosing.

Next up around the Fortnite esports calendar will be the ESL Katowice Royale at IEM Katowice. A $100,000 Polish only tournament begins on February 24, and then a further $500,000 international tournament will commence on March 1.
Controversially, the March 1 tournament is expected to be the day soon after the launch of Season eight of Fortnite, so you can find concerns some big changes will are available in to play shortly prior to the competition.
