Recently, Fortnite data miners leaked that swords may soon come to the game because they found some sound files that have distinctive kinds of sword sounds combing through current files for the game.
Filed below "BR_Sword_," there is a myriad of distinct sounds, like the sounds of sword influence up close and from farther away. There are even diverse variations for different sorts of attacks.

Now, as you could possibly know, there are already swords in Save The Planet, but not in Battle-Royale. And though these new sword sounds could just be for Save The World, the file names especially mention "BR," aka battle-royale, which seems to recommend they may be not for Save The World, however, the much more preferred Battle-Royale mode.
Interestingly, within the Fortnite Season 7 trailer and loading screen, you can find swords, which may well just be a hint at what's to come. But at the moment, Epic Games hasn't announced anything.
It is also worth pointing out this might be for any harvesting tool/pickaxe that makes the sound of a sword would make once you hit points with it or swipe with it.
Or probably swords will probably be added by means of an LTM (Limited Time Mode) that replaces guns with swords. Unfortunately, at this point, all we are able to do is speculate.
As always, all leaks of this nature must be taken with a grain of salt. Not merely are the conclusions drawn from leaks like this often misguided, but occasionally in-game files don't result in something. In other words, they could be a dead end.
